Job Description
Provide quality customer service to our customers. Responsible for knowledge of all products sold in the store, maximizing sales through extraordinary customer service. Responsible for attending to customers, offering prompt and courteous service. Engage and interact with customers to create a positive shopping experience. Make sure that all items are in the computer system, and that prices are accurate. Efficiently help customers check out and package their merchandise. This description is intended to outline the primary responsibilities, general nature and level of work being performed by associate assigned to this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and competencies.
Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours at a time without a break, using restroom, smoking or eating.
- Ability to work a cash register, including ringing up groceries, packaging and collecting payment.
- Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
- Possess strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service.
- Ability to identify produce items and key in their appropriate lookup code numbers.
- Possess strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to bend down, lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion.
- Push or pull up to 100 lbs. safely.
- Must be able to stand up for most of the work shift, frequently walking short distances.
- Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce etc.
- Ability to use hands to frequently/continuously handle currency as well as operate a variety of equipment.
- Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
- Have sufficient visual ability to check IDs and other written documents.
- Ability to enforce security policies, such as shoplifting, and refunds
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Must complete all required training within 30 days of employment, and at least annually thereafter
- Must follow procedures, including SNAP/WIC and ABC regulations.
- Greet all customers with a smile and good attitude upon entering store.
- Maintain checkout area clean and orderly. Absolutely no eating around register area.
- Make every effort to maintain accurate cash control.
- Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lots during downtime, and/or when asked. Organize any baskets left out of stand.
- Be courteous and helpful to other employees. Tropicana is a team.
- Report any cashier malfunction to front manager.
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Return unwanted items to correct shelves.
